A Transport Manager is not only mandatory in most cases, but also crucial in ensuring a transport operation remains compliant and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle maintenance - planning prohibitive maintenance inspections in accordance with the conditions stipulated on the operator licence, plus MOTs, tacho calibrations and more
Driver compliance - monitoring adherance to the drivers hours regulations, appropriate management of infringements and routine licence checks, training, toolbox talks etc.
Record keeping - regualtions stipulate how long driver and vehicle records must be kept. A good Transport Manager will be organised and systematic.
Operator Licence compliance - regualrly checking the OCRS score, upadting the licence to reflect any changes and notifying the Traffic Commissioner when necessary.
